Neon Giant is Skagit County's most trusted mover, voted the area's best three years running and rated 4.9 stars across more than 400 reviews. We're locally owned, fully licensed and insured, and we show up with our own trucks, our own gear, and a background-checked crew.
But the real reason people pick us is simple. We don't just move boxes, we brighten your day, one GIANT move at a time.
The Neon Giant is our Sasquatch, the gentle giant of the Pacific Northwest, lit up in bright neon. He stands for what we do best: heavy lifting handled with strength and care, and a moving day that's fun and memorable instead of stressful. Most movers roll up in a plain white truck. We'd rather be the bright giant you don't forget.
Neon Giant Moving has been serving the Skagit Valley and the Pacific Northwest for five years. We were formerly known as BackBreakers Burlington and rebranded to Neon Giant in 2026. We've been voted Skagit's Best Moving Company three years in a row (2023, 2024, and 2025) and we hold a 4.9-star rating on Google across more than 400 customer reviews.
Yes. Neon Giant Moving is a USDOT-registered interstate carrier (USDOT 4508147, MC 178437), fully licensed in Washington State, and fully insured.
Yes. Every member of our crew clears a background check before we ever bring them on. Nobody works in your home until they've passed it, so the only people handling your belongings are people we already know and trust.
Yes. Every member of our crew goes through in-person training at our shop in Skagit County at least once a month. We drill professional moving techniques, run through real-world scenarios, and hold each other accountable so every customer gets the same Neon Giant experience. Combined with our background checks, that's how we make sure the people walking into your home know exactly what they're doing.
We serve Skagit County (including Burlington, Mount Vernon, Sedro-Woolley, Anacortes, and La Conner), Whatcom County (including Bellingham, Blaine, Lynden, and Ferndale), all of Snohomish County (including Arlington, Everett, Marysville, Lynnwood, and Mukilteo), and the San Juan Islands (including Friday Harbor). We also handle long-distance and interstate moves anywhere in the country.
In Washington State, moves of 55 miles or less are considered local moves and are billed hourly. Moves over 55 miles that stay within Washington are considered intrastate. Moves that cross the state border are considered interstate or long-distance and are billed by weight and mileage rather than hourly. We do all three.
Yes. We move pianos of all kinds, hot tubs, safes, and most other specialty items. We don't move pool tables. If you've got something unusual, call and ask. We try to figure things out before we say no.
No, we don't transport vehicles. If you need a vehicle moved alongside your household goods, we can recommend an auto-transport company that specializes in vehicle relocation.
Yes to all three. Senior moves (including downsizing to assisted living) and military relocations (including PCS moves) are some of our most common jobs. We also handle commercial and office moves across our service area. We offer a military discount for active duty, veterans, and military families. Mention that you qualify when you book. Each of these move types has specific paperwork or timing requirements, so let us know what you're working with when you call.
Yes. We sell new moving boxes in all the standard sizes plus specialty boxes for things like TVs, wardrobes, dishes, and mirrors. We can deliver supplies to your home ahead of move day. Ask about our supply pricing when you book.
Yes. We bring our own trucks, blankets, dollies, straps, and tools. We're a full-service mover, not a labor-only company that makes you rent your own truck and figure out the logistics yourself.
We have limited in-house storage. We also partner with several local self-storage facilities and can often get our customers a discounted rate. Mention storage when you call and we'll work out the right setup for your move.
Most local 2 to 3 bedroom moves in Skagit County run $1,200 to $2,200 depending on home size, distance, stairs or access, and how much you're moving. We provide free estimates with no obligation so you get a real number specific to your move. Call 360-588-4700 or request a quote online.
Long-distance pricing varies based on distance and how much you're moving. Moves to nearby states like Oregon and Idaho typically run $4,000 to $12,000 for a 3-bedroom home. Cross-country and farther moves (think Washington to the East Coast or the South) can run $15,000 to $30,000 or more depending on distance and quantity. We provide free written estimates and we handle the full move start to finish with no third-party handoffs.
Your clock starts when our crew leaves our office and stops when they return to our office. Weekday minimum is 1 hour. Weekend minimum is 4 hours, and weekend moves are billed at our overtime rate (a bit higher than weekday rates). We're closed on Sundays.
Both, depending on the move. Most jobs, and nearly all local moves, are nonbinding and billed by the hour, so you only pay for the time the move actually takes, not a number we padded to be safe. For long-distance moves or a single specialty item, we can lock in a binding price up front, so you know the exact cost before we start. Not sure which fits your move, or want the peace of mind of a set price? Just ask and we'll point you to the right one.
Call 360-588-4700 or fill out the quote form on our website. For bigger moves we'll schedule a free in-home walkthrough. For smaller moves a phone or video estimate is usually enough.
Every move comes with basic valuation protection at no extra cost. We also offer two upgraded valuation options: one with a $300 deductible and one with full replacement coverage. Ask about these options when you're booking so we can match the right protection to what you're moving.
We recommend 2 to 4 weeks of lead time, especially during peak season (May through September). We often have same-week availability though, so it's always worth a call.
We work Saturdays year-round. We're closed on Sundays. Saturday moves carry the 4-hour minimum and weekend rate noted above.
Depends on the size of your move. Most jobs go out with a 2, 3, 4, or 5-person crew. For a one or two bedroom apartment, a 3-person crew is the most common, and we send bigger crews when the job calls for it.
Inventory determines how long your move will take, which directly determines what it costs since local moves are billed hourly. The more accurate your inventory (number of rooms, large furniture, fragile items, anything tricky like a piano, safe, or hot tub), the more accurate your quote will be and the smoother move day will go. The opposite is also true: vague inventory means vague pricing and risk of surprises on move day.
If you've hired us for the move only, yes. Please have everything packed and move-ready before we get there (and ideally organized) so your move goes smoothly. If you'd rather not pack yourself, we offer full and partial packing services. Ask about it when you book.
Yes, completely. Empty it, clean it, and dry it out. If it's going into storage, leave the door cracked open so moisture can escape. We don't move fridges with food: closing delays happen, food shifts and breaks glass shelves, and moisture can leak onto other items in the truck. Remove the water filter too. Those hold more water than you'd think.
We ask that you empty both. It protects the furniture and protects our crew. If your specific situation makes that tricky, reach out and we'll talk through options. Same answer whether you're in Burlington, Mount Vernon, Bellingham, or anywhere else we serve.
Honestly? Get them out of the house if you can. Boarding pets or having them stay with a friend makes move day dramatically smoother. If they must be home, put pets in a clearly labeled, secured room and tell us. For kids: prep them emotionally in the weeks leading up (don't spring it on them), and pack a go-bag with snacks, activities, and a comfort item. The more decisions you make before move day, the more attention you can give everyone who needs it.
Yes. On the morning of your move, you'll get a text or call from our dispatch office confirming timing, with your crew's exact ETA.
Yes, or someone who knows the plan should be there in your place. When we arrive, the crew does a quick walkthrough, so we want someone on hand who knows where everything goes, what's coming and what's staying, and can make calls on the spot. At the end, we'll even have you peek in the back of the truck to make sure nothing's taking a road trip without you.
Yes. Our crew handles beds, dining tables, desks, and most other furniture that needs to come apart to fit through doors or load safely. We bring our own tools. If you've got something especially complex like a Sleep Number bed, a custom piece, or anything with proprietary hardware, mention it when you book so we can plan for it.
We pad and wrap TVs carefully. For full valuation coverage, TVs need to be in a TV box, which we provide. We'll take it off the mount, box it up properly, and load it in a secure spot in the truck. If you'd rather load it in your own car, we'll help you get it there. Just know that without a box, we can't cover it under valuation, and we'll ask you to sign a disclaimer.
Hazardous materials (paint, propane, gasoline, ammunition), perishable food, live plants on long-distance moves, and sheds or anything else that requires heavy machinery or specialized equipment to relocate. We can move plants on local moves with no guarantee they'll survive.
