La Conner, the channel and the tight historic streets

La Conner is a small waterfront town on the Swinomish Channel at the edge of the tulip fields, and it moves differently than anywhere else in the valley. The historic core is tight and the channel and Rainbow Bridge shape every route, so local know-how earns its keep here.

We move the historic homes and the galleries-and-shops blocks along First and Second Street, the channel-front houses with dock and boardwalk access, and across the Rainbow Bridge to the gated Shelter Bay community on Fidalgo Island. Narrow streets, waterfront access, and the swing bridge all get planned before the truck rolls.

A lot of our La Conner moves are retirees and second-home owners on the water, folks moving into or out of Shelter Bay, and artists and downsizers drawn to the town. Tulip Festival in April fills the streets and the valley roads, so we time the move around the crowds.

Why people move here

Why La Conner?

A postcard-perfect waterfront arts town on the Swinomish Channel. This is a lifestyle move, not a commute. Here is the draw.

A one-of-a-kind waterfront townPopulation around 1,000 on the Swinomish Channel, the most distinctly charming spot in the county.
100 percent locally ownedNo chains, all independent shops and restaurants, the strongest small-town arts identity around.
An arts destinationThe Museum of Northwest Art, working galleries, and the annual Arts Alive event.
Tulip country’s front porchRoozenGaarde and Tulip Town are minutes away.
Home of a major bulb growerThe Washington Bulb Company, one of the valley’s largest employers, is right here.
A lifestyle movePeople come for the water, the light, and the quiet, not the commute.

Common questions

Moving in La Conner, FAQ

Do you move homes across the Rainbow Bridge into Shelter Bay?

Yes, all the time. The gated community and the bridge just need a little planning, and we scope the access and any HOA move window before the day.

Can you handle the tight historic streets downtown near First Street?

Absolutely. Narrow streets and waterfront access are routine here; we bring the right truck size and plan the loading zone.

Do you move the channel-front homes with dock or boardwalk access?

We do. Waterfront carries and boardwalk access add handling time, and we plan the path ahead of time.

Do you route around Tulip Festival crowds in April?

Yes. La Conner and the valley roads pack out in April, so we plan the timing and routes around the festival.

Can you also haul away junk when we move?

Yes. We clear the garage, old furniture, or yard debris the same day, moving and junk removal in one stop.

How early should we book a La Conner move?

Sooner is better, especially spring and summer. Once you have a date, we lock it in.
